While Global Wellness Day might look a little different in 2020, the message is the same - a day dedicated to worldwide wellness and community, even at a distance. We hope you enjoy this blog-a-day countdown honoring the 7 Steps of the Global Wellness Day Manifesto and how you can incorporate them into your daily lives all year long. Thank you to GWD founder Belgin Askoy and Gloria Treister for their inspiration and efforts for this noble cause! Learn more at globalwellnessday.org

One Day Can Change Your Whole Life!

Did you know that kindness is contagious – and good for your health?

Positive emotions are proven to reduce stress and boost the immune system. Kindness stimulates the production of serotonin, the feel-good chemical, which helps heal our wounds, calm our senses, and make us happy. Witnessing acts of kindness produces the 'love hormone' oxytocin, which lowers blood pressure and improves overall heart-health.

What’s more, the positive effects of kindness are experienced in the brain by the giver, the receiver, and the observer! Moods improve, and the likelihood of each person "paying it forward" is significantly increased. Just one good deed can create a domino effect and enhance the day of dozens of people!

Today's wellness challenge is to perform 7 Random Acts of Kindness throughout the day. Here are some ideas to help get you started:

• Give an unexpected compliment to a stranger.
• Drop off a "spa at home" gift (https://www.kerstinflorian.com/curated-shops/gifts-kits) to a friend who could use some self-care goodness.
• Run an errand for a busy friend or family member.
• Donate old towels or blankets to an animal shelter.
• Surprise a neighbor with freshly baked cookies or treats.
• Leave a gas gift card at a gas pump.
• Have a LinkedIn account? Write a recommendation for a coworker or connection.
• Offer to rub your partner’s shoulders after a long day. Even better, do it with Fuß Balm to help ease sore muscles and provide a boost of energizing aromatherapy
• Send a gratitude email to a coworker who deserves more recognition.
• Buy a potted plant and write positive descriptions of your friend on the pot and drop it off at their front door.
• Write a positive comment on your favorite blog or a friend's social media account.
• Write someone you care about a list of things you love about them.
• Leave a box of goodies in your mailbox for your mail carrier.
• Email or write to a former teacher who made a difference in your life.

So do those around you – and yourself! – a wellness-boosting good deed. Everyone benefits when there is more kindness in the world...

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted" – Aesop
